The Grândola’s new Library and Municipal Archive is accessed thorught the set of palm trees that structures the renovated “Praça da República”, now purged of all the noisy and conflicting elements, which have been removed from there in search for a more pacified order. In addition, the Library has been renovated internally with Diasen’s innovative and ecological solutions.
The technical pillars of the intervention
The cycle of solutions was applied on the inner walls of the structure. First, the cork-based mortar Diathonite Evolution was chosen for its thermal properties and its porous appearance. Then, the fine and breathable Argacem HP was applied, which is specially designed for Diathonite plasters. After that, Argacem Ultrafine was applied in order to obtain a perfectly smooth surface. The cycle was finished with the application of the fixative and adhesion aid D20 and with water-repellent and breathable coloured finish Acrilid Protect Coating.
To achieve the maximum acoustic comfort on the building interiors, Diathonite Evolution mortar was applied and then sanded. The final appearance can be seen on the walls and ceiling of the structure. This intervention was necessary to meet the reduction needs of the reverberation of sound in the study rooms.
